This section of the Web site contains information useful to
candidates for the CPA certificate.
For information on obtaining a license to practice after you receive
the
CPA certificate,
please refer to the section entitled CPA License Requirements.
If you wish to find out about CPA certificate and license requirements in other states, please consult
our list of Other Accountancy Boards.
Following are the General Requirements for the CPA Certificate:
- Successful
completion of the CPA examination, or possession of a CPA
certificate issued by another
state.
- Successful
completion of the mandatory Accountancy Board basic professional standards and responsibilities course originally designed by the OSCPA in collaboration with the Accountancy Board of Ohio in 2004, and updated yearly ever since. If you hold a CPA certificate issued
by another state, and passed an ethics examination or course required
by that state, we will accept that state's ethics examination
or course in
lieu of the Board's required course.
- Experience
performing one or more services related to public accounting,
as defined by Board rule.
See the section CPA Experience Requirement for
details.
